I just got a nice ping from Michael Arrington over at Techcrunch ... Yahoo has acquired Del.icio.us!
y.ah.oo!
Were proud to announce that del.icio.us has joined the Yahoo! family. Together well continue to improve how people discover, remember and share on the Internet, with a big emphasis on the power of community. Were excited to be working with the Yahoo! Search team - they definitely get social systems and their potential to change the web. (Were also excited to be joining our fraternal twin Flickr!). Source: Yahoo has acquired Del.icio.us
Holy smokes. I think this clearly means that Yahoo is making a serious Web 2.0 play. With the acquisition of Flickr and now Del.icio.us ... the early adoption of RSS, VoIP. I see Yahoo trying to move into a space Google want very badly, our lives, and I see that Yahoo is offering the tools to do it.
There are some gaps, of course. Their Yahoo360 blogging platform needs work (like remote posting), but somehow I think we haven't seen the last Yahoo acquisition.
